MonoCity is a real-world city game. Walk to real places, step in, collect rent and build your city empire.
MonoCity is played on real streets. Every pin on the map is a real place: a shop, a café, a park. You need a GPS lock within 25 m to play, so step outside or near a window if the map stays foggy.
Walk within 25 m of a place and tap Step In. You earn dice and XP, and you pay a little rent in cash to the owner. Short of cash for the rent? The app offers to take you to the Bank. You can step in at the same place again after 60 minutes.
Step in every day to build a streak: from day 2 you get bonus dice, up to 5 a day.
The visitor with the most step-ins at a place in the last 12 months, and at least 5 of them, becomes its mayor.
Every hour a few places near players turn gold on the map for 60 minutes. The first 3 visitors to step in (not the owner) win 10 times the usual step-in dice, plus double XP. Turn on alerts so you hear about the ones near you.
Markets, concerts, games and more happen at real places. Tap Events on the map to see what's on within 50 km. Step in at an event's place while it's on to earn the Event Goer badge.
Know of one? Submit it: pick the place, add a photo, the details and when it runs. A moderator checks it, then players who stepped in nearby (the same city, or within 5 km) in the last 30 days get an alert. When you step in somewhere new, a pop-up shows the events on now or coming up this week.
Cash pays for rent, places and upgrades. Dice are the rare currency: you need them to create, buy and upgrade places. At the Bank, 1 dice is worth 5,000 cash, both ways. Until level 5 you can sell up to 10 dice a day.
Get more dice by stepping in, watching rewarded videos (3 dice each, up to 10 a day), dice packs in the Store and inviting friends.
Once a day you get a free roll of two dice. Doubles win 5 dice times the number rolled. A total of 7 to 10 wins 2 dice, 11 wins 60 minutes of double XP on step-ins, and anything else wins 5,000 cash.
Roll 7 days in a row to get a third die: the best two count.
Every day you get three new missions, a different mix each day: step in at 3 places, visit a place you've never been, roll the Daily Dice, collect rent, step in during happy hour and more. Finish all three and claim your dice from the missions button on the map (around 10, more on harder days).
If you're on a streak, you'll get a reminder in the evening before it breaks. You can turn this off in Notifications on your profile.
Found a real place that isn't on the map? Add it from Step In: take a photo, pick a category and pay its cost in cash and dice. Each category shows the level it needs.
A moderator checks every new place and may move it to a better category. If it's rejected you'll get the reason, and for honest mistakes a full or partial refund.
Your places earn rent every time someone steps in. Step in at your own place to collect the rent waiting there. Upgrade a place to raise its value and rent (it needs enough visits first).
Every month you are paid a salary of 50% of the value of all the places you own.
The map is split into districts of about 1 km. Own the most places in a district, at least 3, and you become its District Boss. Bosses are picked every week; ties go to whoever has held their places there longest.
Each week a boss earns 5% of the rent paid in their district, paid by the game, so the owners there lose nothing. Zoom in on the map to see the districts (yours are gold) and tap one to see who runs it. See the top bosses on the Districts leaderboard.
The Market lists places for sale and at auction near you, with their price. After a place changes hands it can't be sold again for 7 day(s). To buy a place, make an offer on it or bid on it, you must have stepped in there yourself in the last 90 days.
You can always sell a place to the Holding Company for its value minus a 5% fee, and you get some dice back. To buy another player's place, make an offer of 2 to 10 times its value in cash, plus 100% of the dice it costs to buy; the cash and dice are held until the owner answers, or returned after 7 days.
A siege lets you take over another player's place even if they won't sell, by visiting it more than they do. Step in at their place, then tap Siege on the place screen. It costs 25 dice, and that step-in is your first point.
Each day you step in there adds 1 point. Each day the owner steps in there takes off 2. Reach 5 points within 14 days and you win: you then have 48 hours to buy the place for 150% of its value, plus the dice it costs to buy. The owner gets the money and the rent waiting there. While a siege runs, and until the winner's time to buy is over, the owner can't sell the place or accept offers on it.
Owners get an alert when a siege starts and each time the attacker scores, so visit your places to keep them. Players who joined in the last 14 days or are below level 5 can't be besieged, nobody loses more than 2 places a week to sieges, and after a siege you must wait 30 days to besiege the same place again.
The Bank lends up to 5 times the value of your places, to repay within 6 months. While a loan is open you can't make offers, and you must keep places worth what you owe.
If you don't repay in time, the Bank takes places to cover the debt and sells them at 5-day auctions starting at 125% of their value. It can also take cash and dice. After an unpaid loan you can't borrow for 30 days.
Your places are tax-free for 6 months after your first one. After that you get one tax bill a month for all your places, separate from your salary. A place you stepped in at in the last 30 days is taxed 48% of its value a month; one you haven't visited pays more, rising the longer you stay away.
Pay in the Bank within 5 days: after that a 5% fine is added daily. If you can't cover it, the bank auctions places, and anything above your tax comes back to you. Some cities are made tax havens by the game team: places there pay no tax, for up to 5 places each.
Almost everything earns XP: stepping in, creating, buying, upgrading and selling. Higher levels unlock bigger categories and let you buy and upgrade bigger places.
During happy hour, XP is worth 5 times as much. It's random each day, so watch your alerts.
Every new level pays 10 dice, and every 10th level 50. The top level is 500.
MunduCorporation visits countries with at least 100 active players. While it's in town it makes offers on players' places: 5 times the place's value in cash, plus the dice it costs to create a place of that kind. You decide whether to sell.
Places of worship and similar spots belong to everyone. Anyone can add one for free: nobody owns it, and you get the XP for adding it when a moderator approves it. Stepping in is free, and you still earn XP.
Follow players to see what they're up to in your feed, and compete on the leaderboards.
Share your invite code: a friend who uses it within 7 days of joining follows you and you follow them, and you both get 20 dice after their first step-in.
Bring in 3, 10 and 25 friends who step in to earn the Recruiter, Ambassador and City Builder badges and 50, 150 and 500 dice. Ranked on a leaderboard or a District Boss? Share it as a picture with your invite code on it.
Tap your name or photo on your profile to change them, and write a tagline so others know you. A moderator checks every new name and tagline first: your current one stays until it's approved. Tap a badge to see it up close and how to earn it.
Choose which alerts you get (happy hour, streaks, rent, events and more) in Notifications on your profile. How to play and Report a problem are under Support in the profile menu.
Play where you really are. Fake GPS apps are detected: you'll be locked out of stepping in and adding places for 30 minutes.
The welcome bonus is given once per phone; extra accounts on the same phone start with 40 dice. Report an offensive name, photo or tagline from the player's profile, and a bad place photo from the place's More menu. A moderator checks every report. Cheating can get an account blocked.
